Even with changing classes, Diaz was defeated in the first match, after which he announced that he would play in both 155lbs and 170lbs classes, and not just one.

During 2011, Diaz participated in multiple championships of different classes. He lost the first two games. But soon, he regained momentum and won the later two fights via submission and a unanimous decision.
